This lovely Victorian guard chain is composed of sparkling "coin" links. The 9ct English gold chain can be doubled or tripled and you can hang all your favourite fobs and lockets from the dog hook. Circa 1880.

Victorian guard chains were very long and originally intended to wear watches clipped on dog hooks. They were originally worn with the chain tucked into a woman’s belt.

Details.....The necklace measures 60" long, chain measures 2.4mm wide and weighs a 14.5 grams. The hook measures 16.8mm long. In Very Good antique condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
